The World Interviews David Beckham through Yahoo! Live (And You Can Be Part Of It!)

If you had a chance to ask David Beckham any question about sports or otherwise, what would it be? 

Yahoo! summons its 600 million global users to ask the international sporting icon their utmost question in an exclusive interview.

Tomorrow, July 14, Yahoo! will be asking Beckham as it hosts a unique global interview. The interview will take place in London at 9.30 pm Manila time and connect fans simultaneously by video from 18 other countries around the world. In over 90 minutes, David will take on questions from the world over.

The interview will be streamed live on Yahoo! Philippines and http://ph.yahoo.com where viewers will have the opportunity to submit their own questions live during the event through Yahoo! Mail, Beckham’s Facebook page, the Yahoo! World Football Facebook page and Twitter using the hashtag #Y!DB.

"It’s always great interacting with fans, but I’ve never been part of an interview quite like this - being able to take questions direct from people in 18 different countries across five continents. It’s definitely a first for me,” says Beckham.

Earlier this month, David Beckham signed a global sponsorship deal to serve as Yahoo!’s Global Sports Ambassador. The partnership brings together the world’s largest online media company and the world’s most iconic sports star to offer exclusive content only found on Yahoo! for Yahoo!’s coverage of the World Cup and the 2010/11 football.

“At Yahoo!, our vision is to be the centre of people’s online lives, and we do this through delivering unique, personally relevant content found nowhere else,” shares Jack Madrid, Yahoo! Philippines General Manager.

The global interview is expected to involve fans from the Philippines, UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Canada, USA, Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, and India. utilising Cisco’s TelePresence high definition video suites, fans from each country will interact with David Beckham through video.

International Skaters Gives Some Thrilla in Manila

Aloha Boardsports champion skaters, armed with their skateboards, recently flew over to Manila .

One of which is star skater Louie Lopez who started skateboarding at age of 6. Now a 14-year-old, this California-based boarder is making a name for himself in this sport after getting inspired from watching the world-famous pro-skater Tony Hawk skate a vertical ramp at the X-Games.


Another is Colombian skater David Gonzales who joined the Flip Skate team in 2008. Luan de Oliveria, Volcom and Tampa Am competitions’ multi-awarded champ, also joins the line up with the European pro-skater Willow, who has likewise been featured in a number of skating videos.

Skater idol Mark Appleyard also wow-ed the Philippine crowd as he showed his tough moves during the tour. Having been a two-time Transworld Skateboarding Skater of the Year and garnering more awards under his belt, Appleyard shew Manila his favorite trick which is the backside smith grind, along with his other famous moves.

 Meanwhile, Scottish Ewan Bowman, a proskater and also the manager of the Flip’s exclusive skateboarding team, will also be giving his perfect ollies, kickflips, and grinds.

Pacquiao vs Clottey Fight Soon

From the supposed Pacquiao vs. Mayweather fight, as everybody knows, it's now Pacquiao vs. Clottey.

As much as I felt the threat to Pacquiao having to face Mayweather, I now feel the same level of regret for Clottey's future boxing career in this sport. It's so obvious that Clottey is the underdog not only in terms of boxing belts but also of boxing skills. It would have been a challenge for the world's greatest boxing champion if Pacquiao faced Mayweather.


Joshua Clottey is 33 yrs old from Ghana and has a record of 35 wins, 3 losses of which are 20 KOs. He is said to be a tough fighter with good defense. But the question is - will he be up to par with Manny Pacquiao's fist, quick jabs, and swift feet? Moreover, Clottey just lost in his last fight against Miguel Cotto last June whom Manny Pacquiao recently knocked out.

Admittedly, Clottey is no easy task to hurdle as Freddie Roach himself aknowledged him as "dangerous" having never been knocked out. But I think he'll certainly be overwhelmed with Pacquiao's speed and power come March 13, 2010 in Pacquaio vs. Clottey. And there's always the possibility of a first time. :)

Summer is Here with Nestea Fit Camp Hot Sports

Nestea Fit kicked-off the Nestea Fit Camp Hot last weekend at the Fort Bonifacio Open Field nearby Bonifacio High Street. The camp intends to introduce an active lifestyle program through various sports and activities designed to get one hot for the upcoming summer season.

The Nestea Fit Camp Hot is a 6-Saturday physical course facilitated by the country’s top athletes and professionals. The Nestea Fit Camp Hot sports and activities include beach basketball, beach volleyball, touch football, hiphop dancing, flag football, yoga, zips, and the famous ultimate frisbee.

I actually got to try the hip-hop and ultimate frisbee. Although I'd love to learn and go hip-hop dancing again, I have longed succumbed to the idea after several tries in my younger years.

It was kind of a let down though that we were not actually able to play the ultimate frisbee because of time constraints. The bell for the next sport rang even before we started the game. They were able to orient and somehow train us though, theoretically. It was nonetheless fun.

Together with some friends, we left for lunch. And good for those who stayed, celebrities Karyll and Derek Ramsay came in support of the event. And they already left when I came back at 1pm.

There's actually more to it than just staying active under the hot sun. The aforementioned 6-Saturday Camp Hot course is just the Manila leg. Finals will be in Boracay! Yes, you heard it right!

Sports, or any athletic activity which requires skills or physical prowess has challenged mankind through the past thousands of years. From the prehistoric times when the hunter tried to blissfully outdo a fellow hunter in pursuing his prey, sports has existed.

Sports has pushed man to do better and outpace himself, at the very least, his previous best. This is higly evidential in the Olympics where countries and nations raise their flags with pride to represent their country. Moreover, their goal is to win medals for their country and glory.

Sports has proven that man can push himself to do better with determination and proper guidance. His spirit can be inspired with the incessant goal; and history has proven that.
